The agency in charge of the nation's air security expects later this year to begin using a controversial X-ray machine that will show airport screeners a clear picture of what's under passengers' clothes — whether weapons or just bare skin.
Screeners plan to test the "backscatter" machines at several U.S. airports, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says. The refrigerator-sized machines are considered a breakthrough in scanning technology but have been labeled "a virtual strip search" by the American Civil Liberties Union
Security workers using the machines can see through clothes and peer at whatever may be hidden in undergarments, shirts or pants. The images also paint a revealing picture of a person's nude body.
The devices can potentially be used to screen hundreds of millions of air travelers each year, although TSA says more study is needed to determine how the devices may be used at U.S. airports. The agency declined to say when and where it expects to test the machines.
Security consultant Douglas Laird says the machines are essential to spot explosives, which aren't detected by metal detectors.
The $100,000 machines bounce low-radiation X-rays off a person's skin to produce photo-like computer images of metal, plastic and organic materials hidden under clothes, says American Science and Engineering. The TSA is testing its BodySearch machine.

Hello everyone, well since videos are the 'in' thing now, I shall not insert any more videos. Instead, I'll have words for u guys to read. Haha...I guess those studying are pretty busy with projects, tests and what have you. (all cursing and swearing at the workload you have) As for those working, I totally have no idea, so update urself using the tagboard man(yes, you, the one reading this). Glad to see not only the usual people leaving comments around, I saw ck's comment here. So, that's a good thing, whoever comes by this blog should leave something down, so as to let the rest of us know how u are doing now. If u can't type then juz put in some pics, that will suffice! Juz a little HI...
HI ALL,
How have everyone been so far? Are u guys coping well in your respective new environment? Well,I only can update about the school scene in NUS and NTU. As for the rest,not heard of any thing yet...so feel free to update me on other institutions and working environment k. You should know how to contact me,adding me on msn, ahzhong@hotmail.com, is perhaps the easiest and most convenient of all. (give credit to Microsoft or some call it 'microsuck' for their creation)
In NUS,we have me,kenneth,wei liat (eagle), eeyang,shi xiu, jasper, chek meng, jieming, guan rui. (that's all i think). I know shi xiu,jieming and wei liat stays in halls,they are enjoying their hostel life and life is good with hot chicks in their hall( esp eagle,haha!) I see eeyang,kenneth,jasper and guan rui around sometimes. I have not seen chek meng yet though. Today,we had a mini FDS gathering at the 'Deck' a.k.a. arts canteen. Jieming walked into the canteen as if he was going to some neighbourhood shops to buy some vegetables,with the out-of-bed hairdo and the ACJC t-shirt with air force blue PT shorts. (i was rofl like mad) Wei liat,shixiu and kenneth were around too,we even saw Cheng you jie (ex A shift PC),he's in biz btw. Shi xiu had this 'panda eye' cos he kena rammed by ball yesterday,I thought he got into a fight with someone sia. oops,juz remembered seeing wilvin in NUS,he got this braided hairstyle(cool..) and lionel is in Law fac at bukit timah campus,quite stressful cos he got 5 days of sch and his textbooks have cost $450( only the first week of sch man.)
Whereas in NTU,i only know aaron chua,kelvin yip,hong jing,cody,choon boon,joseph,poh woon(sgt teoh) are there. All of the mentioned are staying in hall. fwah...Yip is damn hardworking man,I've heard from him that he has been studying consistently for his work while trying to understand the china style kind of english that his lecturers are speaking. He even jogged 2 rounds around NTU (12 km),fwah... Hongjing is enjoying himself with the new friends found and he is popular with the crowd there i say,got girl buddies who hold his hand. joseph and yip plays a lot of bball as well,same like eagle in NUS. As for the rest staying in hall,they juz chill during their rest time. o ya,kah xian and weng heng (ranger) are in NTU too but I've not heard from them.
ok,the rest...victor works in Marine parade town council now,ck and small tan in SMU,gaoyuan in SIM. Jinwei,yongjun are working liao. I saw joshua leong performing with his band at a event at junction 8 a few weeks ago,he's still in training for air steward. Anyone can tell me where is kiat boon? ha! 1840hrs...almost all here...the rest gradually made their appearances at the steamboat place
quite a short distance from the station...
saw some minister of parliament( i tink) on the way
lotsa steamboat places along the stretch
sat down comfortably and drank the lime juice
ordered the soup base for the steamboat
TO MY DISMAY, HAVE TO TAKE THE FOOD OURSELVES
and its not even nearby..
its the shop beside the room we are in....
Ma-La steamboat was a killer..Few survived the ordeal
although it was only medium hot...
Food wise...lotsa variety
